Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things.

Run and Jump

Too cute!

I love Emma in pigtails and she rarely lets me do this now a days. She likes to read her nursery rhyme book - especially to all her dolls.

What has happened since August 2008?

Well, well...I am back. I know...where have I been? Final semester of graduate school, life with a 3 year old and an almost full-time internship are my excuses for not having anytime to post to my blog since August 30! Oh in addition I had been studying, when I could, for the National Counseling Exam which was 200 questions. I took it on a Saturday morning in October. I found out the Friday after Thanksgiving - I passed! So I am now considered by the National Board for Certified Counselors a National Certified Counselor!

I just received a card today from a good friend who said nicely on the back - time to update the blog! Since my daughter and husband have left the house to go snowblow out our friend's driveway I have some quiet time to write. I also have some time because the Christmas preparations are done and life can go on now back to somewhat normalcy. Although there is alot to do in our house to prepare for the baby which is due to come in 6 weeks! Time has flown. I have zero pictures to show for this pregnancy. 2nd one is being slacked on already but I don't plan to keep that up.

As for me I am now graduated with a Master's of Science in Education - Student Affairs and College Counseling from UW-Oshkosh. I graduated December 13th. Some of my family was able to be in Oshkosh to celebrate the occasion including my aunt and uncle from Sun Prairie, WI as well as my 2 godmothers/Aunts and cousin & wife from the Twin Cities. And of course, my parents, Ethan, Emma and my big brother, Todd! On the 12th the Professional Counseling department has a special Hooding Ceremony for their graduates and that was a very special night because it is our time as students to reflect on what this has meant to us and to thank those who have helped us. I cried, of course. The evening started with a bit of havoc since Emma was suddenly vomiting in the bathroom just after we arrived to campus but after an hour or so she seemed back to herself. Made her Mommy a wreck though during part of the ceremony because I did not know how she was and could not be with her - could only watch Ethan have to get up 3 times and to take her to the restroom.

As for the rest of the fall it contained traveling to Madison for Badger games, a trip to the Twin Cities in October to cheer on Ethan in his first solo marathon (usually we run them together), I did run a 5K the day before the marathon and I ran a 2 mile run on Thanksgiving in Sheboygan. Felt good too! Ethan and I celebrated our 5th anniversary at the end of September in Chicago with a wonderful weekend away.

Ethan did great in his marathon by the way - despite the downpour rain for the first 9 miles and cooler weather. Emma, myself, Uncle Todd, Dad, Mom, Brad & Hadley all helped in cheering him along at various points along the course. The day before we celebrated my cousin, Naomi's wedding to Jason. It was a packed weekend!

Emma started 3 year old preschool and loves it! She also started at a new daycare - we had some adjustment issues but she seems to be doing much better. She is very excited to be a big sister! For awhile if you asked her - we are having a girl and her name is Elizabeth. She would tell anyone this but we do not know what we are having nor are we sure on names. Now if you ask her she says she does not know and is better at saying he or she or baby. She repeatedly tells me she loves the baby and likes to tell the baby that through my tummy. I think she will be a great big sister and big helper! She is kept busy taking care of all her babies which are all over the house with "blankets" (actually towels from Badger & Packer games which work great as doll blankets!)

Now we have 6 weeks to prepare for the second baby Treptow's arrival and there is a lot to do! We need to clear out the computer room because it is the baby's room and move the computer and everything else in the room to the family room or basement. But the basement is full and needs cleaning out so that is part of the project as well...we have rented a storage shed for some of our big lawn stuff and it will come in handy for this project as well. Then the family room needs to be rearranged to fit in "an office", still have room for Emma to play, and hopefully a spot for Mom to scrapbook - which I hope to do some more of now that graduate school is done.

I am not sure if it has fully set in that I am finished with school. In some ways I think it has but it also just feels like break. Although I do feel I have more time to get to smaller projects and am not feeling guilty for not using the time to write a paper or read a chapter of something. It is nice not to have any formal obligations right now and knowing I do not have any in January or February. As for me and what's next - have a baby! Then I will decide when to start looking for jobs in higher education - I will look for Fall 2009 or I may wait a year and start looking in spring 2010- who knows. I am doing my best to stay in the present - something my counseling background has taught me to be better at.

I hope you have all had a very Merry Christmas and wish you all the best in 2009. My new year's resolution is of course to stay up to date with my blog. :-) Following all of this I will fill in with some photos to capture the past 4 months.

Badgers are ready to roll

38-17 the score of the Badger's opening season game for 2008 at Camp Randall Stadium. They beat the Akron Zips on a very sunny and hot day. Since Ethan is working nights I took my Dad to the game. It is becoming a tradition that my Dad attends a game with me each season because there is always at least one game Ethan cannot attend. Unfortunately, the way his work schedule is there are many more he cannot attend this season.

It was a good day. Luckily for us the old man behind us was a bit quieter than usual. He can never say anything good even when they do something well and always has something to say about at least one player - last season it was "put Bernstein in". The year before he was constantly yelling about Stocco. We will have to wait and see who it will be this year.

I like Allan Everidge. He seems to be a smart quarterback. Let's hope he and the rest of the Badger team can take us to a good Bowl game. Next week is Marshall and this time all 3 of us will attend. We have great people next to us and in front of us. We have gotten to know each other over the last 3 seasons so now we can contact each other for extra tickets if needed.

Go Badgers! On Wisconsin!

My rare moment the other morning

Since Ethan was on days off for part of this week (back to nights tomorrow). I realized it was my chance to wake up early before heading off to my internship to run by myself. I do not think I have run by myself without pushing a stroller in over 4 months! Crazy. It was perfect at 6:30am. 52 degrees and nice. I love this type of weather and cannot wait for more of it as autumn approaches. To more wonderful runs with or without my daughter as my pregnancy continues..I hope to run for as long as possible which will hopefully be a lot longer than I did with emma. I think by 4 or 5 months I stopped with Emma because of pain. I am 4 months and so far feeling fine when I exercise - just slower.

First Brewers Game

Emma with Daddy and Mommy enjoying the game.

This past Saturday we took Emma to her first Milwaukee Brewers game with Nana and Papa. We tailgated beforehand with Papa's work crew - Emma really seemed to enjoy the whole tailgating experience - just sitting back and relaxing - we were amazed at how content she was to just sit in her cinderella chair. It was rather hot. But believe it or not I forgot to take a picture of this.

Emma and Daddy posing with 2 sausages after the game - not sure what Emma is trying to do. Looks like she is trying to get her head stuck.
Once inside the stadium she was, of course, ready to move around and not wanting to sit still. It did not help that it was a 6pm game so she had only an hour nap. At one point she told us it was "too slow for her". Later I tried walking around the concourse with her but she only wanted to go back to be by Daddy and watch the game. We brought in a glove and told her we may be able to catch a ball, so all throughout the game she asked when a ball would come. Unfortunately, we never had that chance. Overall, she did enjoy the game and best of all Brewers won! She even saw Bernie Brewer slide down after a homerun plus she liked the fireworks.

A nice photo of us after the game in a giant baseball glove.
Emma starts her first day of 3 year old preschool next Tuesday. Tomorrow is Open House for her - a chance to meet her teacher (Mrs. D) and see her classroom. She will also be starting at a new daycare next Wednesday. Our in home daycare provider of 2 years (who we loved and so did Emma) decided to close with her 4th child expected to come any day. Emma will be attending St. Norbert College's Children Center which is very convenient for myself. I am doing my final internship at St. Norbert's this semester before I graduate in December(the 13th to be exact - I can't wait!) with my Master's degree.

Sunday we spent the day going to church with Nana and Papa and then headed to cousin, Ian's 4th birthday party. Emma had fun playing outside and we had a chance to see Uncle Bill, Aunt Vicki, and cousins Kylie and Griffin (Liam stayed home because of school) from Georgia because they were bringing Kylie to college at Ripon for her 2nd year. It is always great to see them since we do not see them all too often with all the miles between us.

Part of our family and extended family at Ian's 4th Birthday party.
I have not been so great with posting on my blog to this point but hopefully it will improve as time goes on. It is nice to have a place to post some recent pictures quicker. Otherwise they sit on my computer or in my box to be scrapbooked for too long. Although graduate class starts up again soon but hopefully my one class will not be too much work for my final semester. Until next time... If someone can tell me why my script is not separating from my photo headings that would be great! I am still learning this and very slow at all of it.

Emma's 3rd Birthday

Princess Emma
I am a bit slow with adding to my blog but am finally taking the time to figure out how to post photos - pretty simple. Emma's 3rd birthday was July 29. We had some of her friends over on the Friday before to break in her new swing set - I will try to post some of these photos. Then Saturday we had a family party. I think Emma had a great time at both and received some wonderful and thoughtful presents. The tiara and boa that she is wearing in the above photos were a gift from her fabulous college babysitter, Heidi. Who has now moved on to Madison for grad school - we wish her the best of luck but will miss her.

Why does it say Running with kids?

Kids is plural because we are expecting our second child in early February of 2009! We are excited and big sister-to-be Emma is quite excited as well. She is already telling me what the baby does and does not like. :-) Emma just turned 3 yesterday so she will be about 3 1/2 when the baby comes. We know she will be a great helper! So there is our big news for the year - but wait there is other news I will finally graduate with my Master's in December. 4 1/2 years later but all worth it.

My turn for 21st Century

Hello all. Well, I have been reading a number of blogs over the last year or two. So, I finally decided this summer perhaps I would give blogging a try. Especially since it has been a great way for me to keep up with some good friends throughout the country such as in Iowa, Washington, California, and North Carolina.

I plan to try to stay up to date on our life happenings without too much boredom for you, the reader. Most people will probably be most interested in hearing about Emma.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to this new adventure of technology...
