Up to date...Happy Memorial Day!

The girls and I enjoyed a nice Memorial Day while Daddy worked. We headed to Oconto Falls to see Grandma Evie and celebrate her 90th birthday as well as watching the OF Memorial Day parade (it goes right past her house). The night before Memorial Day we enjoyed the Celebrate De Pere fireworks with Liz, Jacob and Madeline. That was fun. The girls had a great time at Grandma's - watching the parade and catching candy (all for Daddy I told them!) I am awful, aren't I? We don't need the candy in the house. After spending a warm afternoon at Grandma's we headed to the NEW Zoo. It was too beautiful outside to just go home. We had a great time at the zoo and saw some animal encounters that we have never seen before. We saw some penguins actually swimming in their pool, the 2 raccoons playing, jumping, climbing up a tree in their exhibit, we saw the new female Moose, Matilda, and then we witnessed a snapper turtle crossing the cement finding a hole in the fence and then proceeding to try to get in to the Canadian Lynx exhibit but his shell was too big. Well, the Lynx must have sensed something because he came over and took some swats at the turtle through the fence holes. The turtle just sat there and continued moving on along the fence trying to get in while the Lynx did not leave its sight....not realizing that if he got in that Lynx would have him in a heartbeat. We enjoyed watching the 2 animals. Eventually a Zoo employee had heard of the turtle and came to its rescue. Since it was a snapping turtle he was not happy to be picked up but definitely much better off in a pond then in with the Lynx. The girls were cleaned up, tired and in bed by 7:30. Last 4 days of the school year starting today...wow...where does time go?
