Our early christmas present

A timeline up to the big surprise...

So the week of December 7 I noticed Katherine was standing more easily on her own and for longer periods of time.

December 12 - while at the cookie decorating party she tried out a walker and took to it with no problems and really seemed to enjoy it

On December 14 - I noticed 3 different times throughout the day she took 1 little step.

December 15 - a friend noticed a step which then confirmed for me I was not seeing things the day before.

December 18 - I put Katherine in front of me, sort of jokingly, and said come here - she took 3 steps and fell! I couldn't believe it! That night when we went to show Daddy she took 12 steps! She is officially walking for the past week now almost 2 weeks - come Friday. She is still falling at times of course, but she has mastered turning herself around, standing up from a sitting position, she knows when she is about to fall to put her hands down which balances her and she stands right back up. She is trying to get faster especially when she sees something she wants and then falls as she approaches because her little feet can't keep up with the rest of her body. When she first started she would laugh and make a cute sound as she walked. She still laughs at times. She is definitely enjoying this new freedom and adventure. As are we! Here are some photos and hopefully, video.

She is also making new sounds - saying Mama a lot more and including dada now. She loves to clap her hands to music or just because. She loves to wave either on command or just because as well. She is starting to get better at drinking from her sippy cup but still likes to chew on it. We are trying to start her eating real food - she loves bananas, toast, string cheese. But is not always willing to try new stuff - she seems to like hard or crunchy things...

She has lots of new toys and 6 new dolls for Christmas but she still loves to get into Emma's stuff because it is Emma's, of course. She seems especially intrigued by Emma's princess dolls.

She'll be running marathons in no time.
