Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there. Especially to my Dad and my husband. I am very grateful to have a wonderful husband who is doubles as a great dad. He is wonderful at caring for, playing with, loving and most of all having an enormous gift of patience with our girls (especially the older one). :-) Thank you Dad for teaching me what you do best - optimistic, heartfelt, caring, loving and supportive.
Katherine is 4 months old! We had a doctor's appointment this past week. She weighed in at 17 lbs (above the 97th percentile for babies her age), 26 1/4 inches long (again above 97th percentile). We have a big girl! She has great soccer thighs as Ethan likes to call them. She is a happy and healthy four month old - who has been teething for 2 months and its becoming more intense lately. Plus, I think she is going to be an early crawler by witness of how often and how much she gets her knees up under her and her butt up when she is on her belly. Plus she does not like to sit still in anyone's lap for too long! She is a "squirmy worm" as Emma likes to call her. Oh, and she likes to grab things - anything. When Ethan set her down on the scale at the Dr.'s office she grabbed a book in a rack next to the scale. Today she grabbed onto my glasses, and I had to get my Mom to help her let go!
As for Emma - we will find out how big she is next month at her 4 year check. She is having a fun summer. She is taking swimming lessons (got to jump off a diving board last week!), and this week has an art class. Plus soccer starts in July! She can't wait for that.
Her latest cute conversation with me went like this - "you can't turn 100, Mom." Me: Why not? E: Because then you will break the house! Me: How will I break the house? E: you will put a hole in it. Me: how will I do this? E: from being so tall! Her mind is always going.
Last weekend and this past week we enjoyed the Bellin run - Ethan ran a personal best (46 minutes) and I felt great. Emma ran too on Friday night. Although there was a lot of confusion and mix up on the organization side of the run and the little kids ran no where near the 1/4 mile they were supposed to run. Hopefully it will be better next year! She still enjoyed the reward of a water bottle, medal, and climbing in the inflatables after! Best of all our friends/neighbors showed up to watch her! Thank you Tom and Patty. This week before Ethan went back on nights we enjoyed an afternoon/evening at Bay Beach with ice cream at DQ to finish the evening. And Emma, Katherine and I enjoyed a play date with some friends from preschool - we went to a park and had lunch. We have had some beautiful weather.
Oh! Big for us. We also with the help of our wonderful neighbor planted all new plants in the front of our house this past week! Our neighbor has wonderful & beautiful gardens. Last summer we tore out all the bushes in front and just left it - other than working on taking the pesky rocks out that the previous neighbors put in. Ethan finished this up so then it was ready to plant. Patty, Emma and I went shopping for plants and came home with plenty to fill all the areas with room left over to plant in as the years go on. It is so nice to have something there again! I will post photos soon.
